Episode 24: The New Avengers |

Supermen—not. When a KGB agent turns up in Toronto, it is not long before the security men sent to investigate wind up dead. Following a trail of injured and dead agents and civilians, the Avengers finally track down the KGB agent and learn he is planning to break into the Canadian Security building and smash the computers, thereby setting Canadian intelligence back twenty years!
Everything that could ever be done wrong was done wrong this time. Thoroughly ridiculous plot, embarrassingly bad acting, and dreadful execution. Even Purdey and Gambit couldn't save this one with some of their banter—there wasn't any. Worst of the three New Avengers bombs, the others being "Trap" and "Gnaws," although they're all so bad it's hardly worth keeping score.
This episode was originally banned in some areas of the UK for excessive violence (I'd have thought it was banned just for excessive awfulness). In London it did not premiere until nine months after "Emily," and even then it aired at 11:25 PM.
