Dead Man's Treasure
By Rodney Marshall

Despite a typically stylish opening car chase and some wonderfully quirky and eccentric touches revolving around Arthur Lowe's aristocratic character, this episode is a disappointing one. The ridiculous Carry On music—a reference which may be lost on many US fans—during the treasure hunt sums up the almost plotless (and certainly pointless) storyline. There are plenty of opportunities to display some classic autos against the backdrop of the unspoilt countryside, and it was good to see the picturesque village used in "Murdersville" re-employed for the removals' van scene. However, 'vacuous' is the word which springs to mind to describe this episode which my nine year old son described as 'good fun but not very clever'.
