Garry Marsh

Brigadier Wiltshire, Look - (stop me if you've heard this one) But There Were These Two Fellers...

by Pete Stampede and David K. Smith

Big, blustery Garry Marsh was a useful link to the comedy of the past, as he constantly played a comic villain to toothy, ukulele-playing northerner George Formby in Formby's 30's films. He had a similar role in Who Done It?, which was (fortunately) Benny Hill's only film vehicle.

Born Leslie March Geraghty on 21 May 1902 at sea, Marsh was a veteran of nearly 100 films. His turn on The Avengers marked one of his very few TV guest appearances. He died 6 March 1981.
