Girlfriends, Boyfriends and Old Friends

During the era of The New Avengers, Steed loses more than his fair share of friends at the hands of the enemy; indeed, the statistics are rather grim. On the bright side, Steed is much more social, with a stable full of two- and four-legged fillies. And he isn't alone—his partners are also often seen with dates, although poor Purdey seems to have a version of the "Steed's old friend" syndrome: every one of her male acquaintances either turns out to be an enemy agent or manages to get killed, or both...
