by Pete Stampede Leon Thau was a support comedian on breakaway Goon Michael Bentine's influential (but, IMHO, badly dated) series It's A Square World (BBC, 1961-64). I'm afraid dodgy "funny foreigners" were the kind of roles Thau specialised in, as also shown by his Indian porter in The Great St. Trinian's Train Robbery (1966). He later turned to producing and directing, in the latter capacity working on two tack classics, the super-cheap children's series The Tomorrow People and, in Australia, the even worse women's prison saga Prisoner in Cell Block H. |
