Steed fears the end of the world is at hand
Cathy looks to the stars for the truth*

Production completed: 16 February 1963
UK Premiere (London, Season 2): 17 February 1963
US Premiere (A&E cable): ca. 25 February 1991

Science Fictional (click to see category list)Is the end of the world at hand? Only one man knows, an astronomer who has observed a white dwarf on a collision course with our solar system—and he's been murdered! The bullets fly as Steed and Cathy close in on the truth behind a mystery that could lead to worldwide Armageddon.

 IMHO

This intriguing and intelligent episode presents a surprisingly plausible situation, one that is somehow more effective than the meteor scenario that has been played to death in modern theatrical releases (Armageddon, Deep Impact). Curious characters abound, including an interesting Indian astronomer, Dr. Rahim (Paul Anil). Just don't laugh too hard when the token American in the teleplay makes an overseas phone call to the New Jersey University!
